An Elliott Fan's Blog

My tribute to the one contestant in the history of American Idol who touched the heart of America simply by being himself--Elliott Yamin.

On 27-Jun-2006 The Elliott Station achieved the #14 spot (top 10%) of most-listened-to Pop Stations on Live365.com. Of overall most-listened-to overall stations on Live365.com we're at #575 (of 7105 total stations). Thank you for listening-in EFans and helping to support "Da Man!"

To All Elliott Yamin Fans

Recently I received a private message from the message boards at etrainstation.com from an Elliott fan named Caren. She was relaying a message to me from Lise Gabriel because Lise's computer was down and we were trying to coordinate the next news broadcast. In her message Caren mentioned how she wished that she could do more as a fan instead of just wishing that Elliott would be successful. I asked Caren for permission to talk about her note and my response. She agreed. This was my reply to her note.

Caren,

I'm so grateful for every fan that Elliott has. In a way it validates my obsession (LOL) with all things Elliott. I just cannot get over how down-to-earth and classy he is. You'd almost think he took a course in how to influence people (again LOL).

It's really comforting to know that there are so many people out there who by their mere presence here send a positive message about Elliott.

Whatever you're doing ... keep it up. It's all good. The things I do are just that ... the things I like to do--kind of a literary-geeky-musicy kind of thing. I'm happy to do it for E. Some people like to post pics, others like to do the polling thing, some like to send gifts, and even others like to cheer others on. Everybody has a part to play and in the end, it will all contribute to making Elliott a success.

At times I wonder if even Elliott thought that he would have this effect on people--just a counter clerk in a pharmacy who was waiting his whole life for a shot like this. I don't even know him (personally) but I'm so happy for him. He deserves it.

Keep spreading the word.

Mike

I think being a fan is like being a witness--you can only tell people what you know in the way you know how to tell it. There's a song that my daughter asked me to put up on the Elliott Station titled "The Fans" by a group called "Alabama." I think it talks about how important each and every one or you are. Here are the lyrics.

Before we ever made the headlines
Or toured the concert halls
We survived our share of barrooms
Stared at many motel walls
The years in Carolina
And all the one night stands
What kept the fires burnin',
back then, was you the fans

We two-stepped out to Texas
Round and round the dancehall floor
Played the fair in Minnesota
I wish we could've played one more
We hope you remember,
we're just the boys in the band
And what keeps the fires
burnin', is always, you the fans

I wish this night could last forever
Oh, but the show must go on
We'll take home the memories
And we'll leave you with our songs
It's been good to see y'all
Can we come back again and again and again
What keeps the fires burnin'
in us, is you the fans

As long as you remember,
the boys in the band
We'll keep the fires burnin'
for all of you, our fans...

I'm sure Elliott thinks the same. What do you think?

The Elliott Station on Live365.com Top 10 Tracks

The Elliott Station continues to be one of the fastest growing stations on Live365.com. I thought that it might be interesting to post the Top 10 rated tracks from the station's playlist. They are ...
  1. Elliott and Mom Lite 98 Interview
  2. Burt Bacharach Medly
  3. Elliott - Trouble
  4. Elliott - One with Mary Jo Blige
  5. Elliott - Queen's Somebody to Love
  6. Elliott, Chris, Ace Taylor, Kevin - Boy's Finale Medley
  7. Elliott - Moody's Mood For Love - Top 24 Performance
  8. Elliott - Moody's Mood For Love - Season Five Encores
  9. Elliott - I Believe To My Soul
  10. Elliott, Chris, Kat - Elvis Top 4 Medly

The rest of the top 30 spots also belonged to Elliott. Other idols who broke into the top 30 include ...

#15 - Ace - Father Figure
#27 - Taylor - Takin' It To The Streets
#29 - Chris - Wanted Dead or Alive
#30 - Mandisa - I'm Every Woman

In less than two weeks, "The Elliott Station" has roared past the 30 day rolling totals of other stations that have been been broadcasting for much longer. I think that it's safe to say that this little experiment is a resounding success with Elliott fans around the world. In looking at the Total Listening Hours (TLH) for the top stations in the Pop genre, I think that it might be possible to break into the top 20 or even the top 10 within 30 days. Wouldn't that be a great testimony to the magic of Elliott's music.

Over the next few weeks I will be introducing additional songs from other artists whose songs Elliott has performed and songs that are in the Elliott style. I hope you've enjoyed the current additions, "When You Love Someone" by Bryan Adams and "Unchained Melody" by Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers.

Thank you again E-Fans for your love and untiring support of "Da Man!"

My Elliott Gear Fashion Collection

I went to zazzle.com and created my own custom tee-shirt today. This is the second time in my life I've ordered a custom tee. The first was last year when I ordered 100 teeshirts for our family reunion in Kona. I know that many people do this all the time but it's not something that I do often. Just so you don't think this is a random choice for me let me explain some of the elements of my design. If you do know me, then you might guess that there's some clandestine agenda to my choice.

First, I chose the color black. The reason is simple, I like black. It's not that I'm "Goth" or anything like that--I'm just very simplistic in my attire. My choice for daily work attire is black scrubs. I have 10 sets of these. I work at home more often than not so this works well for me. Sometimes when I'm out, people will ask which hospital I work at--the small price I pay for wearing industrial garb.

Next, I chose the picture of Elliott from the finale. I like it because it's an in-your-face kind of picture that says "This is Me (Elliott) and I'm a singer." The green highlights will hopefully score points for showing the official Elliott colors when I go to the show here in San Jose. I think this will go nicely with a black sport coat and blue jeans--though I never wear blue jeans--I'll have to buy some.

Then there's the name "Elliott" in a large green MICR-E13B-esque font--the font you find at the bottom of your checks. I did this to imply two things: 1) I'm a computer guy (and this is a truly geeky-old-computer-guy font), and 2) Elliott will be rich someday (yes I know, cheesey). I also chose to just say "Elliott" so that people would ask me "Who's Elliott?" Then I could launch into my whole story about Elliott's incredible journey on Season 5 of American Idol.

If you like this tee-shirt you can go to zazzle.com or one of the many other similar online tee-shirt sites to create one to suit your taste. It's simple and quick. There are images galore at the Etrain boards at etrain.elliottfan.com.

Send me a picture of your E-Gear and if I have enough, I'll create a gallery.

Let me know what you think.

BLEEPed on americanidol.com

About a week ago I logged in to check my private messages on americanidol.com. When I stopped to review my blog for comments, I noticed that what had read previously as elliottfan.com now read bleep.com. Not only that, but all links pointed to bleep.com. I guess I've finally gained the attention of the mods there as one of those "other sites" that compete with the AI boards.

Just imagine. This little site that just talks about Elliott is now on the bleep-list. I never really thought that this would happen, but in a way I'm honored to join the ranks of Yaminions.org, YouTube.com and Rickey.org and many others whose only sin is to talk about Elliott--a lot--our favorite American Idol.

Fortunately we hackers (did I say that out loud ... umm ... I mean software guys) have our devious ways so if you happen to mention this site or the etrain on the AI boards and don't wish to get it bleeped, you may use the following alternate URLs.

  • elliottfan.com = elliottfan.blogsyte.com or elliottfan.no-ip.org
  • elliottfan.com/radio = elliottstation.quicksytes.com or elliottstation.no-ip.org
  • elliottfan.com/videos = elliottvideos.quicksytes.com or elliottvideos.no-ip.org
  • z4.invisionfree.com/Etrain = etrain.sytes.net or etrain.no-ip.org

Thanks again for visiting and thanks for making "The Elliott Station" one of the fastest growing internet radio station on Live365.com.
